To be a church and community knowing and embracing Jesus as Lord.
- to gather for passionate worship
- to nurture each other in faith and
- to care for our community
We are part of the Christian Reformed Church in North America, a protestant denomination of about a thousand congregations with roots in North America going back 150 years.
The “Apostles’ Creed” is a good summary of our beliefs:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended to the place of the dead.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the universal Christian church, the community of believers, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
The Christian Reformed Church in Tillsonburg was formally and officially established on November 30, 1977.
The vision and desire to establish a new church grew from the need in the Aylmer CRC to accommodate their continually growing congregation. Several families lived in the Tillsonburg area, and with the geography and opportunity available in this growing town and vicinity, there would be a place to establish a Christian Reformed Church. The desire was to communicate God's love and truth in a way that would connect with the hearts and lives of the existing families as well as communicating this vision to the community.
God's guiding Hand, and the core group's dedication to respond and serve in every way and opportunity, was evident in the worship services and programs that were established. Each person's presence, talents and gifts was very important, needed and recognized. We followed God's leading, trusting and believing in His provision and purpose, to help each person experience a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
